Cami is often at Go! Running, greeting customers, being petted, and sitting on kids laps. We thought this must be a really cool life for a dog, so we sat down with her over a bag of treats to find out.

How long have you worked at Go! Running?

I found Gary at CARE a little over 4 years ago. He clearly needed a companion, so I thought I’d let him be my human.  Ever since then, we come into the shop together about 3 or 4 days a week.

What’s your favorite thing about coming to the store?

Well, Meghan and Cortney are always hugging me, and that’s nice, but when the UPS guy comes in he gives me treats! Then I get to sit with people who pet me while they try on shoes.  When they’re not looking, I walk off with the cardboard packing from the shoes, rip it up, and make a really cool mess.

Then sometimes, we walk around to the other shops in the Heights neighborhood.  I love Fuller and Sons because they always have Bacon Strip treats for me. So does Relyance Bank.  I snag a few after doing tricks for them.  But I miss my brother Milo during the day, so when I get home we chase each other around the yard to say Hi.

We hear you like to carry things around all the time. Like what?

I’m most famous for bringing socks to people.  When the door chimes, I run over to the try-on sock bin, grab a pair, then bring them to the new customer.  When I give them a little (love) grumble growl, some of them figure out they’re supposed to pull on the socks. Sometimes when we have kids in the store, Gary blows up a balloon and I get to take it out to the little boy or girl.  They love it, but the mom’s make this funny “awww” sound.

What’s your favorite thing about being a dog?

What, me? A dog?!

What do you love to do when you’re not at the store?

Usually in the mornings, we all go for a long walk or run. Sometimes I have to wake up Gary to remind him it’s time to go.  Then we’re off to a trail somewhere, and I get to chase squirrels, swim and just run through the woods. My favorite though is when Gary runs with me.  We go a lot further and I get to smell and see so much more.

Yes, I have a great life and love seeing all our Go! friends . . . . . . Ummm, are you going to eat that last treat?

If you would like to meet Cami, we would love for you to stop by and hang out with her and the rest of the Go! family. We welcome runners and walkers from all paces and walks of life. Come and be part of our running/walking community. Remember, every run begins with Go!
